1909 Print Sarawak Dayak Woman Borneo Mourning Ring Gronong Rattan Nude XGDB7 XEK3 This is an original 1942This is an original 1909 black and white halftone print of a Sarawak Dayak woman in Borneo. She is wearing what the caption indicates is a "mourning ornament" which was actually called a gronong. Made of rattan and brass rings, the Dayak women would wear these at all times, some would have such a large amount that the gronongs would resemble a corset.
